Social Member Guidelines

As a member of this organization, social or otherwise, there are guidelines and expectations. It will be necessary for social members to adhere to these for acceptance, and to maintain a level of good standing in the organization.

I. Sponsorship
Any individual interested in becoming a social member must have the sponsorship of a full member in good standing of The Ancient Order of Hibernians.

II. Qualifications
The applicant must be of the male gender for admittance.

III. Expectations
The applicant, although not required to be catholic or of Irish decent, either support or be indifferent toward the Irish culture and Catholicism.

IV. Guidelines
Each social member will be required to pay the initiation fee (annual dues for the first year) within one business meeting after becoming a member. The cost for membership will be the same as an actual member. The cost will be disclosed upon acceptance into the organization, and may be subject to change from year to year. In addition, each social member will be required to attend at least, but not limited to 2 social functions sponsored by the organization within each calendar year. It will be the discretion of The Social Membership Chairman as to whether this will be required the first year depending on when the member is accepted in. This would be based on a limited number of events left that calendar year. No social member will be permitted to hold office, attend business meetings or vote on issues impacting the organization.

V. Monthly Meetings
A social member will not be permitted to attend the first half (known as the business portion) of the organization's monthly meeting. Once all business has commenced, the President will adjourn the business meeting, and allow social members to join the second half (known as the open portion) of t
he monthly meeting.
