21, 2009
Brothers,
Our next meeting will be Tuesday Nov. 24, 2009
at the Charred Rib in Timonium. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible
there.
The Irish Festival was another great success, owed in no small
part to many of our brothers who spent hours preparing and coordinating for the
weekend. A special thanks again this year to Tim Walsh for his dedication managing
the food booth. We seemed to have enough volunteers to man/woman/child the table
efficiently and effectively throughout the weekend so that visitors were attended
to quickly and warmly. The runners kept things stocked well so that any delays
were in the kitchen rather than at our end, although even there the problems were
modest and brief. Also thanks to Tim, each volunteer could sport an elegant green
AOH Division 3 Irish Festival T-shirt, further cementing our division's reputation
for unsurpassed sartorial excellence.
The Facilities component of the
Festival, chaired capably by Bill Burnham, also appears to have been smooth and
uncomplicated. Thank you for and congratulations on a job well-done. Our division
has handled this aspect of the Festival for many years and is relied upon for
its execution. The ICM Board seems to be taking ownership of some aspects of the
details, thereby taking some burden from Bill's shoulders, and for that future
2nd VPs will also reap the benefits.
Lastly, thank you to the many volunteers
- brothers, families, and friends. Several people generously put in several shifts
at the food booth.
Irish Road Bowling will be this Sunday Nov. 29 at High
Noon on Bunker Hill Road. The competition is heating up as the weather is cooling
down and the trash talk has escalated during this year's season. Family members
and friends are welcome to watch and participate.
Please remember the
soul and family of our brother Daniel Twomey in your thoughts and prayers. Dan
passed away last Wednesday at the young age of 63.
Finally brothers, as
this is my last full meeting as president, I wish to say thank you for the opportunity
to serve as an officer of this organization. The past 3 years have been filled
with much learning about the history of the AOH in general and our division in
particular, a lot of hard work, and the opportunity to collaborate with many of
you who spend hours preparing for our events and meetings. The dedication demonstrated
on a regular basis for, not just for love of the division, but the ideals of Friendship,
Unity, and Christian Charity as well as our shared Irish-American heritage fills
me with great pride and a commitment emulate your fine example. I look forward
to assisting the incoming President Dave Cadigan to ensure a smooth transition
and his success in serving this organization.
Best wishes to everyone
for a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving, and may God keep us safe and focused on
the true meaning of Christmas throughout the holiday season.
Yours in
Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity,
Sean Hackett President
AOH Division
3 Towson.
